Timeless Praise

Timeless Praise is Terry MacAlmon's journey through some of the most treasured hymns and songs of the Church. Accompanied by a full orchestra, Terry returns to melodies that have carried faith, comfort and worship through generations and brings them into his own instrumental style at the piano.

The tracklist reads like a walk through Christian musical history. When I Survey the Wondrous Cross, Amazing Grace, The Old Rugged Cross, Beneath the Cross of Jesus and It Is Well With My Soul have been sung in churches for decades. I'd Rather Have Jesus, How Great Thou Art, Softly and Tenderly and I Surrender All carry memories for countless believers. Other songs such as He Giveth More Grace, Wonderful Peace and 'Tis So Sweet / Through It All continue the theme of trust in God's faithfulness.

There are no live worship leaders or congregational voices on this album. The piano and orchestra are given the task of telling the story. That creates room for people to remember, pray and worship without having every moment filled with words. An older listener may recognize songs connected with childhood or church memories; a younger listener may encounter some of these melodies for the first time.

The title Timeless Praise is exactly right. These songs have survived changes in musical fashion because their message continues to point people toward Christ. Terry does not treat them as museum pieces. He gives them fresh arrangements while respecting the simplicity and strength that made them endure.

The bonus track You Are My Peace brings the journey to a gentle personal conclusion. After looking back across generations of worship, the album ends where worship always becomes real: in the heart of the person listening now.
