Terry MacAlmon is an American Christian worship leader, pianist, songwriter and recording artist whose ministry has become known around the world for one defining passion: the presence of God.
For more than 50 years, Terry has led people in worship — from intimate gatherings and local churches to international conferences, major worship events, recordings and global online broadcasts. Yet the heart behind it has remained remarkably simple.
Worship is not a performance.
It is an encounter.
For Terry, music is a vehicle through which people can turn their attention away from themselves, behold Jesus and become aware of the presence of the Holy Spirit. Whether he is sitting alone at a piano or leading thousands of worshippers, the purpose is the same: to exalt Jesus and create an atmosphere in which people can meet with God.
The songs
More than a worship song
Around the world, many first discovered Terry MacAlmon through his music.
He is the writer of the internationally known worship song “I Sing Praises,” a simple declaration of praise that crossed denominational and cultural boundaries and became part of the worship life of churches around the world.
It was followed by songs such as “Holy Are You Lord,” “How We Need the River,” “Even So,” “I Came to Worship You,” “You’re My Glory” and many others that have become closely associated with Terry’s distinctive approach to worship.
Alongside his own songs, Terry has also become known for interpreting worship songs written by others. His recordings of songs such as “You Deserve the Glory” and “Oh the Glory of Your Presence” have introduced these songs to countless worshippers through a sound that is unmistakably his own.

The heart of it
Worship that makes room for God
Terry has often taught that true worship goes far beyond singing Christian music.
Jesus said that the Father seeks those who will worship Him in spirit and in truth. That understanding has shaped Terry’s ministry for decades.
A worship service can contain excellent musicians, beautiful songs and flawless production and still miss the very thing worship was intended for. The goal is not simply to create a musical experience. The goal is God Himself.
That is why Terry’s worship recordings often feel different from conventional Christian albums. Songs may flow into one another. A musical phrase may continue longer than expected. There can be moments of quiet, spontaneous worship or extended instrumental passages.
There is room to wait.
Room to listen.
Room for the Holy Spirit to lead.
For Terry, those moments are not empty space between songs. Very often, they are the reason for the songs in the first place.

Over the years, more than two million Terry MacAlmon recordings have been distributed around the world.
Albums including Live Worship from the World Prayer Center, I Came to Worship You, Visit Us, The Sound of Heaven, For the Lord Is Good, The Glory of His Presence, For the Bride, Everlasting Love and many others have carried these worship moments far beyond the rooms in which they were originally recorded.
People have worshipped with them in churches, prayer rooms, homes, cars, hospital rooms and private moments with God.
That global reach was never simply about distributing music.
It was about carrying worship beyond a platform.
The ministry
The heart behind New Glory International
Today, Terry and his wife Liz serve through New Glory International, the ministry established to take the presence and glory of God to the nations.
Terry continues to travel internationally, leading worship in churches, conferences and special gatherings. He also teaches on worship, writes, records new music and develops resources intended to help believers grow in their personal relationship with God.
The mission behind it can be expressed in one simple desire:
To bring the tangible presence of God to the ends of the earth.
Weekly worship
An Hour With Jesus
That same desire is at the heart of An Hour With Jesus, Terry’s weekly online worship program.
What began in 2020 became a gathering place for worshippers from different nations and church backgrounds. Rather than presenting a concert or talk show, Terry simply sets aside an hour for Jesus — worshipping at the piano, praying and allowing time for the Holy Spirit to move.
It represents perhaps the clearest expression of what Terry MacAlmon’s ministry has always been about.
Not building an audience around a personality.
Not worship for worship’s sake.
But helping people turn their attention toward Jesus.
