You're My Glory became so important to Terry MacAlmon that he chose it as the title of the album captured during the 2004 Pikes Peak Worship Festival. His reason was personal and simple: he was deeply moved by the Lord being the constant of his life. No matter what comes, Terry said, there is One who is the lifter of his head.
The song draws that language from Psalm 3, where David speaks of God as shield, glory and the One who lifts his head while enemies surround him. Terry turns that biblical confession into worship. Fear is acknowledged, but it is not given the final word. The worshipper looks beyond the threat to the One who is greater - defender, shield and faithful companion.
That is why the song works as more than encouragement. Its answer to pressure is not positive thinking but the character and presence of God. Worship changes the direction of the gaze. Instead of allowing the enemy to define the moment, the song turns attention to the Lord.
This has made You're My Glory one of Terry's most revealing songs. It connects worship in God's presence with real life outside the worship gathering.
