There's A Peace

The Refreshing, Vol. 1 marked a new kind of recording for Terry MacAlmon. After years of live albums captured in worship centers, festivals and international gatherings, Terry created his first studio album specifically for personal time with the Lord. The goal was not to reproduce the energy of a large room. It was to make music that could meet one person in a quiet place.

That purpose can be heard from the opening track Psalm 84, a passage filled with longing for the dwelling place of God. I Long to Be One and Quiet Times continue that desire for closeness, followed by Wonderful Peace and There's a Peace. The album repeatedly returns to rest, shelter and the nearness of God. Lord You Are Holy, Cover Me and He Hideth My Soul deepen that sense of being hidden and safe in His presence.

One of the most striking songs is Hymn for the Martyrs, written to honor believers who had been killed for their faith in Christ. Its presence gives the album depth. Refreshing does not mean ignoring suffering; it means finding strength, peace and faithfulness in God even when life is costly.

I Will Dwell closes the album with the same theme that runs through the entire project: remaining in God's presence. Piano, vocals and instrumental passages work together without the pressure of a live audience or a stage.

The Refreshing, Vol. 1 was created to be returned to again and again - in prayer, in stillness, after a demanding day or whenever the soul needs to refocus. It is worship made for the private room, where there is no crowd and no performance, only the invitation to come near to God and be refreshed.
