From I Came to Worship You
Heal Me is one of Terry MacAlmon's most personal prayers in song, yet its strength lies in how easily another person can make the prayer their own. The words are brief: a request for a fresh touch from the Lord and for the fullness of His life to be restored. There is no attempt to explain the wound, diagnose the problem or dictate how God must answer. The worshipper simply comes to Him.
That posture is important in Terry's ministry because worship and restoration have often met in the same place. During the World Prayer Center years, people regularly testified that while they were worshipping, broken hearts were mended and lives were touched. Terry has always been careful to place the power where it belongs. Music does not heal. The Holy Spirit does. A song can, however, become a vehicle that helps a person stop hiding, turn toward God and pray honestly.
Heal Me does exactly that. It sits on I Came to Worship You among songs of adoration, love and surrender, reminding the listener that coming into God's presence does not require pretending to be whole. Need can become worship when it is brought to Him in trust.
The song is also a good example of Terry's belief that worship does not need many words to go deep. Sometimes the most honest prayer is also the shortest. Heal Me gives wounded people a simple way to bring themselves before the Lord and then allows the music to step back so that the prayer can continue beyond the song.

I Came to Worship You grew directly out of the worship life of the World Prayer Center. Hundreds of worshipers gathered with Terry MacAlmon, and the recording captures something that had become characteristic of those meetings: people were not coming merely to hear music. They were coming with one purpose - to worship the Lord and remain in His presence.
The title song expresses that purpose with unusual simplicity. There is no complicated message hidden behind it. I Came to Worship You is a declaration of intention, and the entire album unfolds from that starting point. The Song of the Lord opens the gathering, followed by the title track and The Lord's Prayer. From there, songs such as I Love You, Precious Lamb of God and We Worship Only You move the worship into a more personal place. Heal Me brings prayer into the center of the recording, while Worship Interlude leaves room for the moment to breathe before We Glorify the Lamb and Let Your Glory Fall carry the gathering forward.
The album closes by returning to I Came to Worship You. That reprise gives the whole recording the feeling of a completed circle: the worship begins and ends with the same simple reason for being there.
This was one of the strengths of Terry's World Prayer Center recordings. They were not arranged to feel like a sequence of radio songs. They allowed worship to unfold at its own pace. Moments of singing, prayer, repetition and stillness all belonged together. I Came to Worship You invites the listener into that same posture. It is less about observing a live event and more about joining the worship that was already happening in the room.
