Come Holy Spirit grew out of the kind of hunger that shaped the entire Visit Us period of Terry MacAlmon's ministry. The worship gatherings were already marked by a strong sense of God's presence, but Terry's heart was not to preserve a familiar experience. He wanted more of God. In the live setting surrounding the song, he spoke about the sweetness of the Lord's presence and at the same time about a desire for life-transforming glory - a fresh work of the Holy Spirit that would change people rather than simply give them another beautiful worship moment.
That is the prayer carried by Come Holy Spirit. The song asks the Spirit to move, to draw people to Jesus, to bring fresh living water and to release liberty. It is not written as a celebration of what has already happened. It is the language of people who are grateful for what God has done but refuse to become satisfied with yesterday's encounter.
This is an important distinction in Terry's understanding of worship. God's presence is not an atmosphere to reproduce. Worship is an invitation to relationship and surrender, and the Holy Spirit is the One who makes Jesus real to the heart. That is why the song never treats the Spirit as an emotional effect created by music. The prayer is directed to a Person.
Come Holy Spirit remains important because it expresses one of Terry's deepest convictions: genuine worship should leave room for God to do what only God can do. The music serves the moment, but the desired result is transformation - hearts awakened, lives refreshed and people drawn more deeply to Jesus.

Visit Us carries one of the clearest cries in Terry MacAlmon's early live recordings. It came from worshipers who were hungry for more than routine and unwilling to settle for "church as usual." The prayer at the heart of the album is direct: Lord, visit Your people again. Let Your presence become real, fresh and unmistakable among Your Bride.
That longing shapes the entire recording. Prelude opens the door quietly, followed by Prepare Ye the Way and Spirit of the Lord. By the time the title song Visit Us begins, the direction is clear. This is not simply worship that looks upward in adoration; it is also worship that cries out for God to move among His people. Captivate My Heart brings that larger prayer into the life of the individual worshiper, while I Hear Him, There Is One and Fairest Lord Jesus continue to focus the heart on Christ.
The final two songs deepen the sense of longing. How Long gives words to the ache for a greater visitation of God, and Come Holy Spirit closes the album not with a performance climax, but with invitation and expectation.
The subtitle, Calling Down the Father's Glory, captures the heart of the project. Terry's ministry during these years was centered on creating room for God's presence rather than simply presenting Christian music. Visit Us became one of the clearest expressions of that desire. It is an album for people who believe worship can become a meeting place with God - and who are willing to pray, with honesty and hunger, for Him to come in a fresh way.
